We are a Southern Baptist Church in Carlsbad, NM
This has been one of the most challenging events and seasons in the history of this congregation. We are being faced with health issues, economic issues, social issues, emotional issues, and even issues of life and death. I know that it seems like an over-reaction at this point, but our concern has been for the most vulnerable in our family. None of us can be sure that we’ve done the right thing or not, but after sufficient research and consultation with medical experts I decided to suspend all congregational worship and religious education at the church’s property. You will be notified when the proper officials feel it is safe to assemble.
This does not mean that we are suspending ministry. Please contact your ministers as you have personal needs that we can meet. Our desire to reach the world with the Gospel Message has not waned. We continue to pray and worship privately and in family units. This is a great opportunity to enhance your Family Altar Time and spend valuable time consoling your children and grandchildren. Teach them and model personal experiences of the faithfulness of God during past challenges. Take advantage of the experiences of our elderly family members to testify about God getting them through tough times in their life. LET GOD REVEAL HIMSELF IN OUR MIDST! This is a time to strengthen your personal relationships within your home…how long has it been since you really talked to each other? Social Distancing might save a few homes. Try an old time tradition of eating a home-cooked meal together at the table without ANY electronic devices…
*Read your Bible together
*Cook a meal together
*Play games together
*Play music—sing and dance together (Baptists?)
*Journal daily and archive to share later
*Handwrite cards or letters to family and friends
**Please share your ideas with our church family. We’ll add them to our list for everyone.
Be safe and blessed. “For I know the plans I have for you declare the Lord, plans for your welfare and not calamity to give you a future and a hope…you will seek me and find me when you search will all of your heart.” Jer. 29:11-13
In Your Service for Christ,
