Our core beliefs

The Body of believers who comprise Blodgett Street Baptist Church have composed this document to express what they expect of each other, and prospective members of Blodgett Street Baptist Church in Carlsbad, NM.

We believe and expect that each member of Blodgett Street Baptist Church will have experienced an encounter with God where they are forgiven of their sins, and become a part of the family of God by grace through faith, and after that encounter, are scripturally baptized by immersion.

We believe and expect that each member of Blodgett Street Baptist Church will strive daily to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe that this growth will be nurtured by living a life that is obedient to God’s Word, and by faithfully spending time daily in Bible Study and prayer.

We believe and expect that each member of Blodgett Street Baptist Church will participate as often as possible in the corporate services of worship, bible study, fellowship, and outreach. We believe that participating regularly in corporate services, combined with personal Bible Study and prayer, will help the individual grow closer to God (which is our ultimate goal).

We believe and expect that each member of Blodgett Street Baptist Church will seek to know and understand their God given spiritual gifts, and then find at least one ministry in BSBC where they can use their spiritual gift(s) to their fullest.

We believe and expect that each member of Blodgett Street Baptist Church will strive to encourage other members to daily grow in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

We believe and expect that each member of Blodgett Street Baptist Church will fervently protect the unity of BSBC; avoiding any appearance of gossip, back biting or pettiness, putting the needs of others above their own needs. We believe that while the individual has the right to interpret biblical knowledge differently from other members, and to discuss their views privately with other members, the individual does not have the right to publicly teach their beliefs if such teachings are contrary to well accepted church belief.

We believe and expect that each member of Blodgett Street Baptist Church will support financially the ministries of the fellowship, following the biblical imperative of returning to God, through the fellowship, a tenth of all that He has given to us as a minimum.

We believe and expect that each member of Blodgett Street Baptist Church will live their life in such a way that their contacts in the community will want to know more about Jesus Christ.
